First letter from Lydia!!!

One of the best Christmas gifts we got........our first letter from the kids!

One thing that hit me right away was her need to mention a friend that does not yet have a family. I just can't imagine how she will feel leaving her friends back in the orphanage and feeling as though she is abandoning them. The guilt she will most likely feel that she has a family, future, happiness and she is leaving the only people who she can even come close to calling "family" behind in the dust! I'm sure she will feel like she needs to advocate for them....be their social worker....help them find what she has!

I guess what I am saying here friends.......BE PREPARED! Be prepared for me and my kid to be qasi "adoption advocates" (ironically the name of our agency!) and tell you about the one's left behind. The 143,000,000 (MILLION) who are still alone in the world. Children with NO ONE...NO hope of a family, future, love, safety, security, joy, education. These children still need a Mom and a Dad - COULD THAT BE YOU? Are you a Mom or a Dad? If not, could you be one? Think about it and let me know - OKAY?

Lydia is undoubtedly going to ask me what I am doing to help the "family" she had to leave behind.......I want to tell her I am doing SOMETHING!

  1. Amy - how precious! You couldn't have asked for anything better than that! You go ahead with the advocating - I'll be there right along with you.

  2. So sweet! Fevan is around 14 and she has a sister Kalkidan age 13. They have been waiting for awhile for a family as well. Beautiful girls! You will defintly find yourself advocating for all the sweet kids left behind after you meet them. They all deserve a family to call their own!
